The Monday Morning Memo

There are many aspects of tasting things that my inherent skeptic responded to with “bullshit” when I first encountered them. I find myself being dragged against my Texas nature into my posh family background as I discover that most of them are actually true.

I will say that the primary definition of a good whisky glass is “Any glass that is full of whisky”. But I have used the Reidel single malt glasses before, and they do make a significant improvement over the “suck it down with a straw” method that I previously employed.

Plus, extending your pinky finger while laughing at the plight of the proletariat is more awkward with a straw.

However, one thing I DON’T know is how the Reidel compares to the Glencairn glass I have currently in my office, and the Bottega Whisky Glass I have at home.

It is only right and reasonable that I do my true patriotic duty, and discover the truth of which is superior.

“There is a general place in your brain, I think, reserved for 'melancholy of relationships past.' It grows and prospers as life progresses, forcing you finally, against your better judgment, to listen to country music.”
