“With tongue firmly in cheek, Angela and Howard named their port wine Scheming Beagle, a play on the ultra-exclusive, ultra-expensive Screaming Eagle cabernet sauvignon produced in California’s Napa Valley. ‘We’ve gotten a lot of laughs out of that,’ says Angela. ‘I’ve never even tasted Screaming Eagle wine.'”
“While Stone House wines are neither ultra-exclusive or ultra-expensive, critics have taken note of them, awarding the 2005 Claros gold and sweepstakes medals in the 2007 San Diego International Wine Competition. The wine also won silver at the Riverside International Wine Competition in Los Angeles and the Dallas Morning News International Wine Competition. The 2003 Scheming Beagle won silver at the Lone Star International Wine Competition.”
“After 30 years in Austin, Texas, Angela says much of it reminds her of her native Australia.”
