The Monday Morning Memo

This page exists to teach the Wizard Academy welcome center staff how to answer the most difficult question they'll ever be asked:

GUEST:  What is Wizard Academy?

YOU:  Wizard Academy is a nontraditional business school.

GUEST:  Nontraditional? What do you mean?

YOU:  We study what gifted people do when they’re feeling inspired so we can reverse-engineer their unconscious methods. We teach people how to do consciously what a gifted person does unconsciously when they’re feeling inspired.

GUEST:  What kinds of classes do you teach here?

YOU:  Ad Writing, Art Marketing, Practical Applications of Chaos Theory, all kinds of interesting stuff.  The best thing would be to go to WizardAcademy.org.  You’ll learn all kinds of amazing things about us.

Random Quote:

“JED: Words, when spoken out loud for the sake of performance, are music. They have rhythm and pitch and timber and volume. These are the properties of music. And music has the ability to find us and move us and lift us up in ways that literal ‘reading’ can’t. Do you see?

ABBEY: You are a rhetorical snob.

JED: Yes, I am, in this day and age of 24-hour cable crap devoted to feeding the voyeuristic gluttony of an American public hooked on a bad soap opera that’s passing itself off as important.

ABBEY: So this is about you.

JED: It’s not about me… Well, yes, it is about me, but tomorrow it’ll be about somebody else. We’ll watch Larry King and see who.

“

- The West Wing, season 3, episode 6, “War Crimes.” Jed and Abbey Bartlet are having a Sunday afternoon argument about whether the homily at church that day was well delivered.
