The Monday Morning Memo

Loyalty is the quality I value most in my friends.

There’s not much to say after that. It’s pretty much a one word answer.

I am a ‘quote collector’…..meaning I collect quotations on subjects that are important to me.

Loyalty is important to me.

I will share with you quotations about loyalty that are in my collection.

“Loyalty isn’t grey. It’s black and white.
You’re either loyal completely or not at all.”
– Sharnay

“I reward loyalty with loyalty and disloyalty with distance”
– Anonymous

“One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives.”
– Euripides

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
– J.R.R. Tolkien

“Loyalty and respect goes both ways. If they don’t return it, they don’t deserve it.” – Anonymous

“The essence of loyalty is reciprocity.”
– Nelson DeMille

“If I had to choose between betraying my country or betraying my friend, I hope I should have the guts to betray my country.”
– E. M. Forster

“It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.”
– William Blake

“The truth wears many faces. Loyalty but one.”
– Roy H. Williams

Enough said.

– Sue Williams

Random Quote:

“This was our third day here, the longest we’d stayed in one place since the journey started. One trait all animals share, people included, no matter where we are, or where we wish to be, if we’re there longer than a day, we try to make home of it. But the plains are not for homebuilding. Not enough resources. No shelter. The plains are for the vagabonds, wanderers, and cowboys. Their home is the saddle. The sky is their roof. The ground is their bed. What they lack in material comfort is regained in the knowledge that they are always home. To them, the journey is the destination. Should they find gold at the end of the rainbow, they would leave it there and seek another, choosing freedom over the burden of the pot. I haven’t thought once of Oregon, no dreams of the ocean or snow-covered mountains. I only dream of the journey. That is all. No gold for me. Just the rainbow.”

- 18-year old Elsa Dutton in "1883" episode 7
