The Monday Morning Memo

One morning, a few days before closing on the Wizard Academy land purchase that took all the money we had, I got sucked under a dark wave of inadequacy as I thought about the vision Roy had been sharing with Wizard Academy students.

After a few moments of breathless panic, I was calmed with an absolute “knowing” that the right people would come and help at the right time, and together, we would do something amazing.

You are those people and I sincerely thank God for you.

This book offers our humble thanks to all those wonderful people who pulled together to lift an underwater dream into the bright light of reality.

Pennie Williams

P.S. I am saddened that only a small percentage of you will find your photo in this book. Too seldomly did we remember to pull out a camera while you were here! But you know who you are. We do, too.

Random Quote:

“[In America] the ‘almighty dollar’ is the true divinity, and it’s worship is universal. ‘Smartness’ is the quality thought most of. The boy who ‘gets on’ by cheating at his lessons is praised for being a ‘smart boy,’ and his satisfied parents foretell that he will make a ‘great man.’ A man who overreaches his neighbor, but who does it so cleverly that the law cannot take hold of him, wins an envied reputation as a ‘smart man,’ and stories of this species of smartness are told admiringly round every stove. Smartness is but the initial stage of swindling, and the clever swindler who evades or defies the weak and often corruptly administered laws of the States excites unmeasured adoration among the masses.”
