The Monday Morning Memo

Indy, every year twixt Thanksgiving and Christmas I have the privilege of hosting a Christmas show that runs on a bunch of Westwood One stations. This year there is a new tune by Ingrid Michaelson and Zooey Deschanel that I wasn’t familiar with so I looked it up: “Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.”

As I kept researching, I realized that everyone, ‘cept me, knows Ms. Michaelson’s hit tune, “Girls Chase Boys.”

I looked it up on YouTube. It’s a female version of Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible” that you showcased in last week’s rabbit hole. Wonderfully creative – something that makes dogs like us smile.

I’ve been teaching about Strange Attractors for 20 years in the ‘Practical Applications of Chaos Theory’ portion of  The Magical Worlds Communication Workshop. The most concise way of explaining a strange attractor is ‘Something that doesn’t belong, but fits.’ The greater the degree to which it doesn’t belong, and the degree to which it perfectly fits, is what determines the power of the strange attractor (also known as a Third Gravitating Body) to attract and hold human attention.
